We have an exciting, newly created role within our L&D Team as Functional Skills Trainer!

This is a full time and permanent role which will be based out of our Runcorn, Cheshire DC office with a national travel remit to stores.

This role encompasses working in both a classroom environment (instore) and through online remote delivery. You will be expected to facilitate the effective and efficient learning and assessment of learners undergoing Functional Skills courses – Maths & English Entry Level to Level 2.

The key responsibilities in the role are:

  • Act as a personal tutor/mentor to groups of learners in order to train, review, monitor and assess learners.
  • Work with online systems such as BKSB; ensure initial, diagnostic assessments and progress checks evidence distance travelled and full learning journey.
  • Work alongside curriculum to prepare appropriate plans and learning materials for each session, to make them for monitoring or lesson observation visits and to maintain them as part of the course documentation files. 
  • Ensure there is evidence and monitoring of detailed milestone achievements including full and effective use of mock exams.
  • To ensure that you abide by policies, including, Safeguarding Equality & Diversity, Health & Safety, DDA, Quality Assurance, etc.
  • To carry out other such duties as may be required from time to time by the Head of L&D.

The successful candidate will have the following experience & skills:
 
  • Must have reformed functional Skills qualifications in Maths & English at Level 2 or above and a teaching qualification appropriate for working in Post 16 Sector
  • Ability to work and communicate at the highest level, to think strategically and to meet KPIs
  • Experience of teaching/training or working with groups of adults and with mixed abilities
  • A good knowledge of IT based systems alongside written communication, numeracy, and interpersonal skills
  • A commitment and ability to comply with safeguarding, Equality & Diversity, Health & Safety policies, etc.
  • Full UK driving licence.
