We have an exciting opportunity for a Group Financial Accountant to join the B&M team at the Support Centre in Speke, Liverpool. This is a full time, office based permanent position.

We are looking for someone who can join our Group finance team to work closely with the Group Finance Manager in a fast paced, busy department to deliver consistently accurate results. The role offers excellent visibility to the wider senior Finance team, including the FD and CFO, and offers a chance to get your foot in the door of a fast-moving FTSE 250 retail business.

We are looking for an individual who has a high attention for detail, with at least three years of experience working either within statutory accounts, management accounts or audit. You will be reporting into the Group Finance Manager and ultimately be responsible for meeting several statutory reporting deadlines throughout the year, with a high level of accuracy, with the information being critical to the B&M Group’s internal and external stakeholders at multiple points throughout the year.

The key accountabilities in the role are:

  • Involvement with the consolidation process and board pack on monthly basis.
  • A key part of the day-to-day accounting for the parent company.
  • Assisting with the production of the preliminary and interim Group accounts.
  • Producing the statutory accounts for each UK entity in the Group.
  • Liaising with our trading subsidiaries on regular basis to monitor trends, performance, working capital, cash positions and flagging any areas of concern.
  • Leading on IFRS 16 lease accounting.
  • Involvement with the B&M UK tax computation workings.
  • Assisting with covenant calculations relating to the debt facilities.
  • Dealing with the external auditors, tax specialists, etc.
  • Leading/assisting on projects that arise relating to the B&M Group (e.g. redomicile/ refinancing of debt).
  • Other occasional ad-hoc statutory requirements e.g. National Statistics.

The ideal candidate will have the following experience/skills:

  • Minimum of 3 years accounting experience.
  • A quick learner who is eager to further broaden their knowledge and develop their career with great exposure to a FTSE250 retailer.
  • Strong organisation skills with the ability to manage priority tasks effectively.
  • Strong work ethic, accountability and enthusiastic.
  • Newly qualified ACA, ACCA, CIMA is preferred, part-qualified will also be considered.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Excel, being able to use VLOOKUPS/IF statements etc efficiently.

As part of being in the Group team, the role also requires the occasional trip to our subsidiary companies, based in Hull and France.
