B&M are seeking an ambitious and high‑calibre Financial Controller to join our finance leadership team in a pivotal, high‑visibility role. Acting as Deputy to the Group Financial Controller, you will play a central part in safeguarding the integrity of the Group’s financial control environment while helping to shape the future direction of the finance function.

 Working closely with the Group Financial Controller, you will have end‑to‑end ownership of the financial controls framework and responsibility for ensuring robust governance, accuracy and compliance across the Group. The role combines hands‑on technical leadership with people management and senior stakeholder engagement.

 You will also act as a key point of contact for external auditors and play an influential role in driving continuous improvement across finance processes and controls.

 Key Responsibilities

• Act as Deputy to the Group Financial Controller, providing cover, support and leadership across the finance function.
• Take full ownership of the Group financial controls environment, including design, implementation and ongoing enhancement of control frameworks.
• Serve as the technical accounting lead, providing expert guidance on accounting standards and complex accounting matters.
• Lead, coach and develop a small finance team (c.4 people), setting clear expectations, building capability and driving high performance.
• Manage and coordinate relationships with external auditors, ensuring effective audit delivery and timely resolution of findings.
• Support initiatives that improve efficiency, quality and robustness of finance processes and reporting.

 About You:

• Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
• Strong technical accounting background with a clear interest in financial governance and controls.
• Experience operating in, or closely alongside, a financial control environment.
• Proven ability to lead, influence and develop others.
• Comfortable operating in a fast‑paced, evolving business with significant exposure to senior stakeholders.
• Ambitious, curious and motivated to grow into broader finance leadership over time.
