We’re looking for a high-impact Programme Manager to lead a critical Cost Out workstream with accountability for governing and delivering a portfolio of initiatives targeting significant savings over the next three years.

This role will sit at the heart of our transformation agenda, working directly with senior stakeholders across Buying, Merchandising, Supply Chain, Retail, Property, IT, Finance, Legal and Compliance to ensure cost out initiatives are clearly defined, robustly governed, and delivered at pace.

You will play a pivotal role in driving financial discipline, ensuring benefits are realised and sustained, and that delivery is aligned to strategic priorities. Alongside programme delivery, you will also build and embed strong programme management capability across the workstream.

This is a full time, office-based position for a 12 month FTC.

The key accountabilities will be:

  • Lead end-to-end programme management of the Cost Out workstream, ensuring delivery of significant savings over a three-year horizon
  • Establish and operate robust governance, providing clear visibility of progress, risks, dependencies, and interventions required
  • Own programme planning, including roadmap development, prioritisation, resource planning, and critical path management
  • Drive benefits realisation, working closely with Finance to track, validate and embed cost savings
  • Line manage and develop a team of Project Managers, ensuring effective support to business leads delivering individual initiatives
  • Partner with functional leaders to shape, challenge and optimise initiatives to maximise value
  • Chair programme forums, working groups and sponsor sessions to ensure alignment, pace and accountability
  • Proactively identify and mitigate risks, issues and delivery blockers across the portfolio
  • Embed consistent programme management standards, tools and ways of working across the workstream

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Proven experience leading large-scale cost out or efficiency programmes delivering significant (£100m+) savings
  • Experience operating at senior stakeholder level (ExCo or ExCo-1), with the ability to influence and challenge constructively
  • Strong background in discount retail and/or FMCG environments
  • Demonstrated experience of managing complex portfolios with multiple interdependent initiatives
  • Experience line managing and developing Project Managers or delivery teams
  • Deep understanding of governance, financial tracking, and benefits realisation
  • Strong commercial acumen and a results-driven mindset
  • Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment with competing priorities
  • A pragmatic, delivery-focused approach with the confidence to challenge and drive accountability
