We are looking for an experienced Building & Repairs Manager to join our Central Operations Team. Based at our Support Centre here in Speke, with travel as required, you will play a key role in managing repairs, maintenance projects and contractor relationships across our estate of 800+ stores. Alongside this, you will lead and support a small team of Maintenance Coordinators, ensuring a high standard of service delivery across the business.
Reporting to the Head of Store Support, you'll work cross-functionally within a fast-paced, results-driven environment, helping to ensure our buildings and repairs function operates efficiently, compliantly and cost effectively.
This role would suit someone with both Head Office and field-based experience who has managed a multi-site operation, ideally within a retail, leisure or hospitality environment.
In this role, you will be responsible for:
- Request, assess, negotiate and agree quotations from approved contractors across a wide range of retail projects.
- Conduct site visits and inspections, responding to urgent issues as required and working closely with contractors to ensure agreed standards and timescales are met.
- Manage costs and budgets, ensuring appropriate approvals are obtained while continuously seeking opportunities to improve value and efficiency.
- Support, advise and coach Maintenance Coordinators on repairs and maintenance queries, helping to identify practical solutions and resolve challenges.
- Take ownership of Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) activities, ensuring stores remain fully compliant and operational at all times.
- Monitor, analyse and report on maintenance KPIs and budget performance to the Head of Store Support.
- Think quickly and act decisively to resolve issues, ensuring minimal disruption and keeping our stores trading.
The skills & experience you’ll bring:
- Previous experience managing buildings, repairs and maintenance across a large multi-site retail or commercial estate.
- Experience reviewing, negotiating and approving quotations from a broad range of contractors.
- Strong negotiation, communication and stakeholder management skills, with a proactive approach to problem solving.
- The ability to build and maintain productive relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
- Strong numerical and analytical skills, with a methodical and detail-focused approach.
- The flexibility and adaptability to manage changing priorities and projects.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, with excellent attention to detail.
- Strong PowerPoint skills and the confidence to present business cases and recommendations to senior stakeholders.
- A solid understanding of current Health & Safety regulations relating to retail environments.
- Good Excel skills, including the use of formulas and data analysis at an intermediate level.
- The ability to think on your feet and implement effective solutions in a fast-moving environment.
- A relevant qualification, or be working towards one. NEBOSH is desirable but not essential.
