The Role:

Reporting to the Warehouse General/Operations Manager you will assist with the day to day management of the Distribution Centre. This will include maximizing productivity and efficiency through the effective use of staff, stock, information and equipment under your control. As the shift manager you will manage a team to ensure all company policies are communicated, applied and enforced.

The role will require shift work over a 7 day operation.

As our Shift Manager your main responsibilities will include:

  • To manage and update KPI’s on a daily basis and report these to the General/Operations Manager and other personnel, ensuring all departments targets are achieved.
  • To ensure staffing levels are maintained within the warehouse in line with agreed budgets and to maintain the most efficient shifts to improve productivity.
  • To ensure all new staff receive a full company induction and job training in line with company procedures.
  • To have daily communication with the main warehouse office and senior warehouse management and manage any queries promptly.
  • Ensure due diligence in all Health & Safety regulations.
  • To oversee and organize the efficient management of all warehouse departments
  • Assist the General/Operations Manager to ensure that suitable space has been allocated for goods prior to delivery and that all goods received are placed in the appropriate section in accordance with good housekeeping standards.
  • Ensure that the picking management team duties are carried out in full and correct and timely picking for stores and wholesale orders.
  • Manage disciplines to ensure full staff compliance of their job accountabilities.
  • Be an ambassador for the company and always create an environment that enjoys high staff morale.

To be successful in this role we ask that you have:

  • Previous managerial experience gained in a fast paced Warehouse/Distribution/ Logistics environment
  • An understanding of KPIs with the ability to deliver strong results through a team.
  • Previous experience and understanding of Warehouse Management Systems
  • Strong leadership and coaching skills to engage motivate and develop large teams.
  • Excellent organisational skills
  • Be able to keep your operation safe, by developing and maintaining a strong culture of health and safety.
