We have an exciting new opportunity for a Commercial Finance Assistant to join our Finance team at the B&M Distribution Centre in Bedford!
 
To Oversee and manage the raising of PO’s and the approving of spend within the DC. To produce timely costings and KPI data for the weekly forecast and to ensure standardisation of reporting is consistent with the rest of Distribution
  
 

Key Accountabilities in the role:

  • Providing PO’s to site and ensuring the correct approval
  • Checking Invoices, gaining the correct sign off and coding ready to be processed by Central Finance at head office
  • Checking the Weekly KPI data produced through payroll and ensuring accuracy
  • Challenging the operation with any issues regarding KPI’s and looking at ways to improve accuracy
  • Collating weekly costing data together to be included in the Distribution weekly forecast pack
  • Checking the accounts and preparing of monthly journals to be sent to Central finance to post
  • Month end reconciliations
  • Investigate and explain variances in the management accounts
  • Deal with any invoice queries
  • Numerous ad-hoc reports and project tasks as required (from the Site General Manager / Commercial Finance Manager)
  • Manage the Payroll function on site and 1 to 3 Payroll Clerks
Skills/Experience required:
  • Attention to detail and analytical approach.
  • Strong KPI background
  • Questioning and enquiring approach with a real desire to seek out new methods that will allow more efficient provision of accurate financial data.
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Hard working and flexible, with a strong commitment to meeting deadlines.
  • Good communicator at all levels up to and including Operational Managers, customers, suppliers and other internal staff.
  • Excellent IT skills.
  • Willingness to learn about the Company and industry with a desire to excel and develop
  • Able to develop and maintain good relationships across the business
  • Open minded and able to embrace and influence change
  • Ability to work under pressure and deliver results
  • Planning and organising skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to co-ordinate busy workloads in a reactive environment
  • Commercial awareness to understand the needs of the business
  • Drive, motivation and positive can-do attitude is a must!
  • Ideally must be working towards part or recently qualified AAT / CIMA / ACCA
