We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Buyer or Junior Buyer to join the B&M team at the Support Centre in Speke. This will initially be a 9 month contract, to cover a period of maternity.

We are looking for an experienced Buyer or Junior Buyer who is ambitious, driven and thrives in a fast paced environment. Reporting to the Senior Buyer for DIY, this role is responsible for the DIY/Car category, you will source suppliers and negotiate the best possible terms, to ensure you are building a strong commercial range for our growing portfolio of stores.

The Key Accountabilities in the role are:

  • Source and manage the product range from initial concept until completion, both from the UK and Far East sources
  • Introduce new products/review old products, whilst identifying gaps in the market and customer needs
  • All supplier negotiations including pack sizes, packaging, lead-times, promotions and cost prices
  • Review and track sales out data, updating reports and helping the merchandiser forecast future sales
  • Work closely with the merchandiser and suppliers to ensure products are delivered in the right quantities and on time
  • Plan & Prepare for Seasonal sign off meetings with the Buying Director
  • Monitor competitor prices & performance on a weekly basis and setting of retail prices
  • Build & maintain strong relationships with key internal stakeholders and suppliers including in the Far East.
  • Work with the Buying Assistant to develop own brand artwork for approval

The ideal candidate will have the following experience/skills:

  • Min 2 yrs experience at Junior Buyer level or above
  • DIY experience/knowledge would be an advantage but not essential
  • Results orientated with a track record of achieving targets & delivering growth
  • Strong negotiation, communication, interpersonal and influencing skills
  • Able to build and maintain effective and productive relationships with key stakeholders and suppliers including Far East
  • Able to utilise data to fully understand customer behaviour and habits
  • Attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple tasks at once
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office in particular Excel
  • A positive, motivated self-starter with a flexible approach
