Due to our continued expansion at B&M Retail, we have a new and exciting opportunity within our Central Operations Team for an additional Visual Merchandising Manager, based at our Support Centre in Speke, Liverpool.

Working with both the retail and buying teams this role will develop our store Visual Merchandising across FMCG and Brown Box departments, to maximise sales, profit, and return on space. The successful candidate will have extensive experience of working with FMCG depts and / or brown box depts. including producing planograms for large scale, fast paced retail businesses. Experience working with other several product categories would be advantageous.

The Ideal candidate must also be able to demonstrate the following skills:

  • Articulate and able to communicate well across all levels in the business, both written and orally, with the ability to influence decisions
  • Excellent PC skills, with the ability to produce planograms and store communication packs at speed, using specific packages available, as well as PowerPoint & Excel
  • A Self-starter who is able to work on their own initiative or as part of different teams, as required
  • Able to work under pressure and to tight timescales
  • Able to plan and prioritise works with the agility to react quickly to changes.
  • Able to demonstrate strong commercial understanding of VM displays, with a focus on return on space, ease of implementation and maintenance in store

The ideal candidate must also have a valid driving licence and be able to travel /stay away from home if occasionally required.

The key accountabilities of the role will be:

  • Produce planograms for FMCG and brown box depts. keeping them up to date as new lines arrive
  • Produce communications and training guides suitable for implementation by store teams
  • Produce best practice images
  • Work with buyers to set up bays prior to any buying commitments being made
  • Develop a strong set of principles to ensure implementation in store is simple
  • Keep abreast of VM trends in other retailers to ensure that we remain visually competitive, whilst offering the best prices on the high street
  • Work closely with the Marketing and Communications Team’s to ensure that new launches are well planned and supported with POS and internal marketing, where necessary
  • Work within the restrictions of existing equipment, whilst also investigating, costing and testing new equipment that is better suited to some product types in a high volume, retail environment, which maximises space and sales
  • Store visits to review implementation and understand any issues faced in store, so that we can continuously improve
  • Develop other colleagues to become experts in VM using knowledge, experience and coaching skills
  • Develop training videos
